- The origin and development of aromatherapy,
- History and modern development
- An introduction to 60 plant essential oils and an introduction to essential oils commonly used by the elderly
- Essential oil characteristics and quality identification, shelf life, dosage
- Botany, cultivation, reasons why plants make essential oils
- Essential oil extraction methods (distillation, cold pressing/pressing, solvents, CO2 extraction)
- Essential oil organic chemistry
- Basic physiological effects of oils: Overview of absorption methods, olfactory and limbic systems, skin and immune system
- How essential oils interact on a physical and mental level
- Special training on the application of aromatherapy for the elderly
- Safety and Toxicology of Essential Oils (Topical and Internal)
- Applications for vulnerable groups (infants and children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with chronic diseases)
- Client/Patient Intake or SOAP Annotation
- Basic Essential Oil Chemistry and Contraindications of Certain Essential Oils
- How to create/design effective essential oil blends

Exams and other requirements
exam subjects
Aromatherapy theory (including massage theory) and anatomy and physiology written examination (3 hours)
To obtain the NAHA certificate, you must successfully complete all the above subjects within two years, with an attendance rate of no less than 80%, complete the assignments and pass the exam within 6 months after completing the course.
